The Effect of Deep Posterior Subtenon Injection of Corticosteroids on Intraocular Pressure

Abstract

|
Posterior subtenon steroid injection is a good way of treating with diabetic macular edema, retinal vascular edema, etc. Yet it needs a careful watching because this has a complication of increasing intraocular pressure. In consequences, writers retrospectively analyzed posterior subtenon steroid injection. Cases in this study sampled from 40 eyes of 40 patients who were posterior subtenon steroid injected , at least once, from January 2004 to December 2005 and could be traced more than one month. Except for one anterior subtenon injection, there’s no significant intraocular pressure changes. For these reasons, if the injection is accurately into the subtenon space, increasing of occular pressure will not be a big deal.
